Lowe's Announces Executive Promotions

Kasberger Announces Plans to Retire

MOORESVILLE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Lowe's Companies, Inc. (NYSE: LOW) announced today the retirement of long-time merchandising executive John L. Kasberger, effective Jan. 31, 2010, and two promotions in its store operations and marketing areas.

"John played a key role in our success over the years, and we wish him well in retirement," said Larry D. Stone, Lowe's president and chief operating officer. "John made many contributions in merchandising, and he will be long remembered for leading our efforts to become the dominant appliance retailer nationally."

Kasberger, senior vice president (SVP)/general merchandise manager (GMM) - kitchen and bath, joined Lowe's in 1991 and has enjoyed a 39-year career in retail and home improvement. Clinton T. "Clint" Davis, currently SVP/GMM - hardlines, will assume responsibility for kitchen and bath.

Brent G. Kirby has been promoted to SVP of operations-North Central Division. Kirby joined Lowe's in 1986 and has worked since 2005 as vice president (VP) of installed and special order sales. A 25-year retail veteran, Kirby returns to store operations, where he spent much of his career, starting in the stores and serving as store manager, district manager and regional vice president of operations, based in Atlanta. Kirby holds a bachelor's degree from Covenant College and an M.B.A. from the University of Phoenix. He replaces Rick D. Damron, who will become SVP - logistics and distribution. Eric D. Sowder, the current SVP-logistics and distribution, moves to merchandising where he will serve as SVP/GMM.

Thomas J. "Tom" Lamb has been promoted to SVP of marketing and advertising. Lamb joined Lowe's in 1999 and served as VP of marketing, with responsibility for product, customer relationship, multicultural, credit, event and sports marketing. He joined the company as director of database marketing and has nearly 20 years of experience in marketing, advertising and strategy. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics as well as an M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota. Lamb replaces Robert J. "Bob" Gfeller, who will transfer to merchandising as SVP/GMM - hardlines.
