Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation Awards $1 Million in Grants to Boys & Girls Clubs of America
MOORESVILLE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Lowe's
Charitable and Educational Foundation (LCEF) today announced a $1
million contribution to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Grants of up
to $50,000 will fund repairs and renovations at 23 clubs across the
United States.
LCEF selected the clubs based on immediate facility improvement needs,
the creativity of the projects and the potential impact on club members.
Club staff will work to complete the projects in the next year and in
many cases Lowe's Heroes employee volunteers will provide hands-on help.
"We're so grateful to Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation for
its $1 million commitment to renovating 23 Boys & Girls Club facilities
across the country," said Roxanne Spillett, president and CEO of Boys &
Girls Clubs of America. "These projects will offer our members inviting
and productive spaces where they can thrive and develop great futures."
The Boys & Girls Clubs strives to enable all young people to reach their
full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens by
providing a safe place for them to learn and grow. Since 2009, LCEF has
contributed $3 million in grants to fund improvements at 60 clubs.
"Providing these grants to update the physical locations of the Boys and
Girls Clubs will help promote the academic enrichment and citizenship
goals that are at the center of the Boys and Girls Clubs' mission," said
Marshall Croom, chairman of the Lowe's Charitable and Educational
Foundation. "This is both an investment in our future leaders and in the
communities Lowe's calls home."

ABOUT BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF AMERICA
For more than 100 years, Boys
& Girls Clubs of America has enabled young people most in
need to achieve great futures as productive, caring, responsible
citizens. Today, nearly 4,000 Clubs serve some 4 million young people
through Club membership and community outreach. Clubs are located
in cities, towns, public housing and on Native American lands throughout
the country and on U.S. military installations worldwide. They provide
a safe place, caring adult mentors, fun and friendship, and high-impact
youth development programs on a daily basis during critical non-school
hours. Club programs promote academic success, good character and
citizenship, and healthy lifestyles. In a Harris Survey of alumni, 57
percent said the Club saved their lives. National headquarters are
located in Atlanta. Learn more at http://bgca.org/facebookand http://bgca.org/twitter.
