Lowe’s published its 2019 Corporate Responsibility report today highlighting key areas and initiatives that continue to drive progress for the company as a responsible corporate citizen.
The report details how the company is committed to supporting its people, community and products while working to reduce environmental impact.
Lowe’s has received the ENERGY STAR Partner of the year award, the highest level of EPA recognition. The award distinguishes companies that perform at a superior level of energy management. In 2019 alone Lowe’s sold enough ENERGY STAR products to save customers $5.3 billion in energy costs.
The 2019 Dow Jones Sustainability Index for North America included Lowe’s for its strong overall sustainability practices. 52% of Lowe’s strategic partners have sustainability goals in place, with a goal to reach 100% by 2025.
Lowe’s continues to be a strong community partner with over $42 million dollars of contributions to strengthen and support where we live and work while associates have volunteered over 330,000 hours to help refresh and rebuild their local communities.
Other highlights from the report are as follows:
- In 2019, 58% of Lowe’s board of directors was comprised of diverse members.
- Lowe’s reduced Scope 1 and 2 emissions from its 2016 baseline.
- Lowe’s saved over 28 million gallons of diesel by using 100% SmartWay certified providers for our logistics network.
- Lowe’s celebrated the Lowe’s Employee Relief Fund’s (LERF) 20th anniversary. The LERF has helped more than 33,000 associates and distributed over $40 million since it began.
Lowe’s will continue to build on the progress made in the last year to reach targets related to goals related to promoting sustainable practices, helping customers reduce their environmental footprint, improving the health and well-being of associates, focusing on the critical needs affecting associates, communities and industry, and reducing the environmental footprint of our operations.
