In honor of Memorial Day, Lowe's associates across the country pay homage to those who have served and sacrificed by constructing touching tributes in the designated Veteran parking spots.
LeRoy Simmons, assistant merchandising manager in Troutman, North Carolina, and a veteran himself, has taken on the task of creating the monument since joining Lowe's. He strives to surpass his previous efforts each year, turning this into a personal mission of honor and remembrance.
Personally, I am a veteran and both of my grandfathers served in World War 2, so veterans pretty much run in our family. It’s just a remembrance. It’s something I like to do every year that gives back and shows the veterans how much we care but also for the ones who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
This Memorial Day will be no different. With the help of Tiffany Russ, sales specialist, this year's tribute is turning heads. Customers who are usually hustling to get in and out of the store slow down to stop and appreciate the patriotic parking space.
It represents what Lowe’s is all about: supporting our veterans and the military. It’s nice to see our customers' expressions when they see this. It means something different to each person.
On Memorial Day, all stores will take part in a moment of silence and remembrance, and many will have small ceremonies to commemorate the day with their local communities.
