From major announcements to celebrating associates, revisit the top 5 stories from 2019
2019 was a busy year filled with numerous success stories, challenges and growth, and everything in between. Throughout the year, Lowe’s had the opportunity to celebrate associates and customers, recognize its own progress, give back to the community, and provide home improvement tips and tricks for customers. Lowe’s Newsroom was there, telling those stories, every step of the way.
As we wrap up the end of a decade, we wanted to take a moment to recap some of the most memorable and most-clicked stories. Enjoy this look back at the Top 5 stories of 2019:
Lowe’s Tech Transformation
A major story for Lowe’s this year was the announcement of its Technology Transformation. Lowe’s broke ground on the new Global Tech Center in Charlotte this year where it plans to add up to 2,000 jobs for tech associates. The tech center will modernize Lowe’s IT systems and provide the foundation for a better retail experience in the future.
Recycling rechargeable batteries
One of the most-clicked stories is about three ways to help recycle rechargeable batteries. This article gives you three easy-to-follow steps that will make sure you’re recycling effectively and properly. Lowe’s and its customers have recycled more than 6 million pounds of rechargeable batteries since 2004 and plan to continue this for years to come.
Couple takes wedding pics in Lowe’s
Who doesn’t love a good love story? This one is about a lovely couple who took their wedding photos in Lowe’s. Due to inclement weather, Stacy and Michael Howley decided to take their wedding photos at Lowe’s after their photographer made the suggestion. Having recently visited a Lowe’s store, their photographer was able to make a case for the beautiful garden center and lighting aisle that could replace their photoshoot at the golf course.
Longest-tenured associate
The fourth story pays tribute to one of Lowe’s own. The company celebrated Employee Appreciation Day and its longest-tenured associates. This story gives a picture into Judy Woods 45-year tenure at Lowe’s. Judy started in the spring of 1974 at the general office, but now you can find her in Elkin, North Carolina helping customers pick the perfect flooring.
Wishcycling
In this video, Lowe’s teaches customers and the Lowe’s community how to be a responsible recycler, instead of a ‘wishcycler’. Lowe’s continues to work towards becoming a more sustainable company and hopes to educate its customers and associates on ways they can become more environmentally friendly, too.
