Popular blogger hosts event with Lowe’s in NYC
The best part about having a refreshed outdoor space is being able to host outdoor celebrations! With graduation parties and summer quickly approaching, Amy Lowe, a live nursery specialist for Lowe’s, and lifestyle guru Julia Engel hosted an event in New York City to share outdoor entertaining tips. Engel is a popular blogger who writes about fashion, travel, beauty and home décor on her site, Gal Meets Glam.
At a studio loft in Soho, Lowe’s and Engel put together a showcase of outdoor vignettes with trendy yet affordable products to make any outdoor space ready for a celebration. Customers are increasingly seeing their outdoor spaces as an extension of their home and want to spend more time living and entertaining in those areas.
Here are a few easy tips from Engel and Lowe’s experts to get your space ready:
- Select the right furniture. Try hybrid seating like the Northborough set from allen + roth which offers flexibility as a dining space or just a comfortable spot to entertain friends. Also consider a conversation set like Engel’s favorite Blue Oak Saylor collection.
- Grow your own herbs. Herbs are easy plants to grow even if you are limited on space. They’re a great option for container gardening or vertical planting that can then be incorporated into recipes or added to cocktails for guests.
- Add mood lighting. Mix different size lanterns to add ambiance – place smaller lanterns on a side table for more intimate lighting, and place larger lanterns on the ground. String lighting is another popular option for adding an extra glow to an outdoor space or even an umbrella that comes with LED lighting.
- Create simple centerpieces. Lanterns can also double as a great base for fresh cut flowers. Another easy, low-maintenance and trending option is a succulent planter.
Engel recently renovated her new Charleston, South Carolina home so she was an ideal partner for Lowe’s to join forces with to bring style-forward options for customers to consider when renovating their outdoor spaces. Engel also just revealed a renovation to her front porch featuring Lowe’s product in her blog and is planning another reveal for a second renovation to her backyard in early summer.
