In towns across the country, friends and family gather to celebrate the 4th of July with the time-honored tradition of the patriotic parade. It's the same in Mooresville, North Carolina, except Mooresville is not just any town; it's Lowe's hometown. And that makes the 4th of July Parade, this usual little slice of americana, a bigger piece of the patriotic pie.

This year, the Stars and Stripes on Main Parade is not only sponsored by Lowe's, but Lowe's Mooresville Store Manager James Garst is at the helm as the Grand Marshal of the event.

I am really proud that I was selected to be the Grand Marshal of a community event, the July 4th parade, and represent the company. The company means so much to the community. We help them so much, and they give back to us in so many different ways. So I'm just proud to be a small part of it.

The unique relationship between Mooresville and Lowe's makes celebrating this patriotic holiday together all the more special. As the official overseer of the town's festivities, James is urging everyone to take a moment to enjoy the day.

You step into a different world. It just slows down for a little bit, and you remember what it's all about and why it's all so important. Enjoy it for the moment because you'll go back to normal life quickly.

Happy 4th of July from Lowe's and the town it calls home.
