Q: TELL US ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY WITH LOWE’S.

A: I’ve only been with Lowe’s for about one year. I was hired as a seasonal cashier. I had been working in the medical field prior and I am a military spouse. When I started I had no idea that I would find my passion. So as a seasonal employee, I did really well with my LTR (Likelihood To Recommend), Lowe’s Credit and customers and I was promoted about three weeks later to Pro. And I’ve just been Pro focused ever since.

Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT WORKING FOR LOWE’S?

A: I love the customers. Whether it be a Pro customer or a DIYer. I love the interaction with customers. It’s all about good business and taking care of customers. If we take care of them then they’re going to take care of us.

Q: AS A MILITARY SPOUSE, WHAT DOES LOWE’S COMMITMENT TO THE MILITARY MEAN TO YOU?

A: Whenever I applied for the job, I went online and that’s the first picture I saw was an associate in a military vest. And it talked about how they not only support the military but their spouses as well and you’d be able to transfer and move to different positions or jobs if your spouse PCS’ed (Permanent Change of Station). So that was a huge draw in for me, that’s what I was looking for. With Lowe’s, I could stay where I am or I could progress. And there are opportunities in every region, in every market, in every district.

Q: WHAT HAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH LOWE’S TOLD YOU ABOUT THE COMPANY?

A: You know, you go to work for a big company and you don’t think that people notice you. Well, I’m here to tell you that at Lowe’s, everybody is watching. Whether you think that they are or not. With Lowe’s, there is so much potential, there is so much opportunity, there’s so much growth. I have amazing mentors sprinkled across this country that I can call at any time, for the good, the bad, the learning experiences. This company is everything to me. I come to work every day and I love wearing this vest. We represent an amazing brand. I will be with Lowe’s forever.

Q: WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO SOMEONE THINKING ABOUT TAKING PART IN LOWE’S NATIONAL HIRING DAY?

A: There’s nothing to be on the fence about. Come join the family. This is just an amazing company to work for. Listen, my door is open if anybody wants to talk to me about it. This is a company that you can come to work for that is family-oriented. They’re going to take care of you.

Q: DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR A NEW HIRE?

A: Always show up, just show up and wear your red vest with pride. Be the best red vest you can be, because there’s always something to learn. And look what I did! I went from working in the medical field to a seasonal cashier. And now, I’m a pro specialist. You can absolutely go places with this company, whether you want to take your time or fast track. You may be on a path right now and then that path might change, and that’s ok. Because anywhere you go in the Lowe’s family is great. There’s something for everyone.
