In the last 18 months, dads stepped up their roles at home and became more family-focused than ever—whether that included feeding the baby while on a video call, filming TikTok dances with their teenager, or completing chores and home improvement projects around the house. Giving dad a meaningful gift is important every Father’s Day, but this year holds more weight for most—which is why Lowe’s is encouraging customers to rethink gift-giving and uncovering what dads really want.
For many dads, there’s nothing better than his favorite place with his favorite things—so why not give him the gift of Lowe’s? In addition to getting dad that something special he’s been dying to get his hands on, families can give dad the ultimate package with an experience he truly loves: take him to Lowe’s and put gift-giving in his hands.
There’s no doubt he’ll love to escape in his favorite home improvement aisles. In fact, we surveyed real dads across the nation about this topic and 65 percent said an hour alone in Lowe’s would be a relaxing Father’s Day gift from his family. From the scent of the lumber aisle, to the glean of new gadgets in Tool World, dad’s senses are heightened with each step he takes throughout the store. The survey also found that:
- About two-thirds of dads surveyed said spending just an hour wandering their favorite aisles would make them feel inspired
- 60 percent find the most inspiration from the tool aisle, followed by the garden section (51%) and power equipment (46%)
- When asked which product categories they wished they could test out in store, 58% of dads said tools, followed closely by power equipment (49%), grills (45%) and appliances (40%)
“In my mind, the best Father’s Day gift would just be a whole day at Lowe’s, period. Getting to run around the store, test out all the toys and just totally let loose,” said Taylor Calmus, the dad behind viral social media account Dude Dad, who recently showed followers his favorite parts of the store. “Plus, Lowe’s has all these amazing things I have my eye on this year, like a Bosch Bit Set, Westinghouse Pressure Washer, the Ring Video Doorbell 3—and so much more.”
After more than a year at home, the gift dads most want is a trip to a place that can both help him let loose AND inspire new possibilities at home with family.
“I head to Lowe’s to decompress, but I always walk out inspired,” said TJ Therrien, a Minneapolis-based dad of four known for his humorous dad life TikToks. “Send Dad to Lowe’s for a Father’s Day excursion and watch him come back with a big smile on his face.”
