Lowe’s trends expert gives tips on how to keep your home looking trendy in 2019
New year, new….trends?
2019 is here and with it, ample opportunity to refresh your home in new and exciting ways. Lowe’s trend experts are looking ahead to 2019 and what the year has in store for home and design trends.
“I’m so excited about the new styles and themes we’ll be seeing customers shop for this year,” said Caroline Harmon, Lowe’s trend and style expert. “From matte black to patterned pops of color, anyone can find a simple (and cost-effective) way to update their space and stay on-trend.”
Ready to bring your home into 2019? Try incorporating these five trends into your project plans:
Matte Black
Matte black adds a fresh contrast and modern touch, and works with styles from traditional to contemporary. We’re seeing it from small pops, like cabinet hardware, to bold statements like kitchen cabinets. It’s also a great way to foray into mixing metals because black goes with everything! Try changing out a faucet, or lighting. It is an easy and affordable update and a trend that won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

From the Earth
Hygge, the Danish concept of being warm and cozy is still going strong.
We want items in our homes that connect us to nature, and help us feel relaxed. Natural materials, in both soft and hard goods can help bring this warmth to the home. Think knotted woods, veined marbles, and sisal rugs. They are the art pieces of the Earth, and no two are the same.
On a budget? Faux looks are so good that you almost can’t tell- they give you the same feeling and get bonus points for durability!

Make a Statement With Lighting or Flooring

Lighting: Lighting is like the jewelry of a room and no space is complete without it. Add a hint of shine- soft gold or matte black for a trendy update. Mix metals. Go oversize. Outdoor Spaces Receive Some TLC
Outside is the new inside. Connecting with nature is an important part of disconnecting from our busy lives. Outdoor spaces that look and function like indoor spaces, with dining, conversation, and kitchen areas allow for seamless living and entertaining.
Decorating with rugs, pillows and other accent pieces completes the look, and you can have all the design and comforts of the indoors in your outdoor space.

If Walls Could Talk, They’d Say More is More
Whether it’s color, pattern, architectural detail, or all three, it’s time to go for it. And it could just be one wall, but why not go for all?
Deeper, moody shades are dramatic, but surprisingly peaceful. Neutrals with just a hint of color, like a soft peach or a light mauve feel very fresh. Add wallpaper to frame out a bed or spice up a powder room. Add architectural detail with molding, like wainscoting or a square paneled wall.
