Even if the winter weather hasn’t hit you yet, you know it’s on the way, so it’s time to start preparing for the cold. Before you head to your local Lowe’s to tackle that to-do list, check out these winter product recommendations from a few Red Vest associates themselves.

“I would recommend an indoor succulent because they’re easy to take care of. I prefer them because I usually forget to water plants, but you only have to water these about once a month. You don’t have to worry about covering them up in the winter and them dying. You can keep them inside and keep them alive.”

“This snowblower makes snow removal super easy, it’s much easier on your back and gets the job done quick. Snow removal in the winter is tough because of the amount of time that it takes and how much it can hurt your back if you are only using a snow shovel. If someone were to ask me what would make their life easier in the winter, a snowblower would be it.”

“The diesel and kerosene heater by Craftsman [is] great for your workspaces in the winter. It has a ten-hour run time, a temperature control to adjust to your different workspace sizes and can run both diesel or kerosene. I recommend this so that you can continue to work on all of your projects all winter long.”

“The electric roof de-icing cable kit prevents ice damming on your roof. It comes preassembled and installation is simple and straightforward. It is also capable of delivering only 5 watts of power per foot. It’s perfect for preventing icicle formulation around your roof and gutters. I would recommend this for a couple reasons. One, people need this product to protect their roof, which can be a large dollar replacement for homeowners if it is damaged. Two, to protect your family because you can safely prevent icicles from accumulating and potentially falling and harming someone.”

“[Easy Heat] is a great product in cold-weather states because you can put it on your pipes, and they won’t freeze. If it gets really cold out your pipes can freeze so you don’t have water and that causes a lot of labor and if you’re not handy it will cost you a lot of money to get that repaired. Putting Easy Heat on your pipes is a great preventative measure. I use this product on my cabin and put it on the spots that would always freeze early. I used to have to replace pipes every year, I haven’t replaced them since installing Easy Heat.

“Sea Foam Motor Treatment cleans the whole engine, the injectors, it treats the gas, cleans the carburetor and keeps the lines from getting clogged up. If you use this on your lawnmower in the winter, it will keep it fresh and lubricated so it will start right up in the spring. It’s a hidden gem because it will prevent small engine lines from freezing in the winter and cleans everything while treating the gas. People usually don’t know about it. They will just get the plain gas treatment but that doesn’t necessarily treat your engine like this does.”
