Throughout March, Lowe's is highlighting associates across the company and nationwide to celebrate Women's History Month.

First, we stopped in Elkin, NC, to celebrate a piece of women's and Lowe's history: the 50th anniversary of associate Judy Wood. Now, we're heading to south Texas, where Adriana Ramos hits the road and works as an area human resource business partner. The 17-year associate can drive up to four hours one way to the stores she supports along the border of Texas and Mexico, and her native tongue, Spanish, is her superpower when it comes to connecting to the communities she serves.

You'll hear me speak Spanish a lot. I've created a sense of belonging in the workplace with many associates. We share stories. I'm a storyteller, but I also tell a story and ask for a story. We talk about our families, our culture, and how we grew up. In my current role, I focus a lot on talent planning and career paths for associates, which are linked to our culture and how we learn.

Adriana says in five years, she'd still like to be at Lowe's, emphasizing the culture and diversity side of the business, but she doesn't discount all the leadership mentors who have gotten her to where she is today.

My leaders at Lowe's have taught me that I can make a huge impact, and I am. I am my authentic self, and I lead that way. I've been able to form relationships and partnerships that have made an impact in my personal life and my career.
