It's an honor and a privilege for me to be here. I had the privilege to serve my country in a time of need.
As Americans nationwide participate in Memorial Day Weekend events, World War 2 veteran Allen Q. Jones will be where he has been on this particular date for the last five years: at Lowe's in Mooresville, North Carolina, watching his son-in-law play TAPS on the trumpet. This year, he'll watch the event after turning 100 years old, a remarkable milestone that marks a century of life and years of resilience and service. This is a significant event in itself and one that Kelly Fox, Central Teams Execution Manager at Lowe's, knew needed to be shared and celebrated.
It's important for Lowe's to celebrate Allen's service and 100th Birthday because Allen is a great supporter of Lowe's. He served his country in WWII, and how many veterans do we know who can celebrate 100 years? Lowe's supports our Military community, and this is just one small way of us doing that.
In honor of Allen, his military service and his recent 100th birthday, Lowe's rolled out the blue carpet and broke out the balloons at the corporate office to celebrate the special relationship between the veteran and the store that supports him. The Army Tanker drafted right out of high school in 1943, has a few life lessons to share. The key to a long life is thanking God. The trick to staying fit is walking daily, and the secret to staying sharp is daily crosswords and word searches.
Lowe’s wishes Allen a Happy 100th Birthday and sends a thank you to him and all who have served the country as we remember their sacrifice on this Memorial Day.
