After launching a series of wedding collections earlier this month, Lowe’s and designer Bobby Berk helped five couples who had to postpone their June 2020 weddings transform their backyards into beautiful venues. From Farmhouse to Bohemian to Coastal Chic, the heart of Lowe’s curated collections came to life in outdoor spaces from Nevada to New York this summer. Below are the newlyweds’ stories, along with coveted tips and design advice from Berk that helped bring each couple’s vision to life.
Whether your style is more farmhouse, bohemian, coastal or somewhere in between, Lowe’s has exactly what you need to help your home become the space it needs to be in every season of life – you can take a look at how these five couples worked with Berk to turn their homes into just that below:

Alexis + Mark – Las Vegas, NV
In April, Alexis and Mark decided to postpone their June wedding until 2021 and elope instead. When Lowe’s reached out, the hope to get married at Mark’s family’s cabin in Arizona, where Mark got down on one knee, came to life once again.
The vision? A rustic-meets-romantic display, complete with beautiful farmhouse tables, string lights and natural greenery, including a tree that the couple planted with soil from each of their hometowns.
“When meeting with Alexis and Mark, I fell in love with the space that they wanted to get married in and knew that there was so much opportunity to really showcase the natural elements of their beautiful venue,” said Berk. “My favorite design element of this wedding is undoubtedly the chandeliers that we hung from trees near the cabin, which created the perfect focal point and extra touch of charm to the string light display the couple had always wanted.”
Nyanka + Brent – Brooklyn, NY
For a couple that has been dating since the eighth grade, there was only one goal: no matter where, when or how, all Nyanka and Brent knew was that they wanted to get married. Their wedding plans had been put on pause due to COVID-19, but when Lowe’s approached the middle-school sweethearts with the idea of a backyard wedding, they were ready to take it on.
Nyanka and Brent had the location, but the backyard needed serious work. Thanks to their local Lowe’s store, their yard went from cluttered and crazy to the cozy venue they had been dreaming of. Before moving to the United States at age 10, Nyanka’s early childhood days were spent in the West Indies – going back to her roots, she wanted nothing more than a Caribbean-style celebration.
“The vision for Nyanka and Brent’s wedding was to strike the perfect balance between tropical plants and shades of teal and aqua, while integrating neutral pieces to ensure they had the simple and elegant wedding they had always envisioned,” said Berk. “The piece I believe Nyanka will remember most, though, is the white arbor the couple exchanged vows under. This was her favorite element from the very beginning and stood out beautifully for their special day.”
Sonja + James – Oregonia, OH
Lovingly known as “Sonjames” by their friends and family, the couple of seven years had originally planned an outdoor wedding, with the reception at a local brewery that had an industrial feel. Reminiscent of their engagement in Costa Rica, the beach holds a special place in their hearts, and they knew they wanted to integrate a piece of artwork that features a beach sunrise and their couple name in neon lights.
With the help of Berk, the couple was able to bring together deep beach blues, whites reminiscent of their favorite wildflowers and a few industrial elements to create a space that truly reflects their relationship and original venue.
“I loved the opportunity that we had with Sonja and James’ wedding,” said Berk. “At first glance, it would feel as though beach meets industrial meets soft whites couldn’t work, but their aesthetic came together so perfectly and personally, and I can’t wait to show off the final product.”
Milo + Lance – Columbia, SC
When Milo talks about his move to South Carolina five years ago, he describes meeting Lance as someone who made what was unfamiliar “feel like home.” After four years together, the couple got engaged while whale-watching in the Pacific Northwest and dreamed of a destination wedding in Spain this June.
While Spain is not an option this year, the duo welcomed the opportunity to create their own version of the Mediterranean villa in their own backyard. Natural and neutral were the name of the game for the happy couple, opting for natural stonework, deep-hued wood and subtle touches of shimmer.
“Lance is an interior designer, so we had a lot of fun brainstorming the design elements that could bring his and Milo’s celebration to the next level,” said Berk. “For a couple that had such a clear vision of how they wanted this event to come to life, my biggest recommendation was to add light (and lots of different kinds) to create ambiance – we identified a number of different candle holders, decorative lanterns and string lights to make their décor really stand out.”
Torrey + Zach – Houston, TX
While Torrey and Zach have planted roots in the Lone Star state, their journey goes back to Bowling Green, Ohio, where they met at Bowling Green State University through mutual friends. The happy couple decided to head back to Ohio to tie the knot, where they will wed at Zach’s family’s house.
When asked about their original wedding décor, Torrey was able to sum it up in just a few words: succulents and sand. The couple loved the aesthetic of Lowe’s Bohemian collection and were able to work closely with Berk to integrate personal touches, including a sign that the couple made using wood from Lowe’s that displays their new last name.
“Torrey and Zach really leaned into natural elements as we worked through the design of their space. From greenery to wood and stone, it all set that neutral foundation and allowed us to bring their venue to life,” said Berk. “Because we leaned heavily into neutral colors, we were able to add different textures and layering in that same tonal palette to add character that really makes the space feel inviting on their special day.”
