This year, Lowe's proudly celebrates its eighth year of participation in the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project and our enduring twenty-year partnership with Habitat for Humanity. Since the national collaboration commenced in 2003, Lowe's and Habitat have joined forces to make a profound impact, helping more than 18,000 individuals in building or enhancing their homes. Through unwavering commitment, Lowe's has contributed nearly $90 million to support families in improving their living conditions, donating products to local Habitat affiliates, and rallying our associate volunteers nationwide. Now in its thirty-seventh year, the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project rallies volunteers from across the country to dedicate an entire week to a Habitat for Humanity build.
The 2023 Work Project is proudly being hosted in Lowe’s hometown region of Charlotte, North Carolina by country superstars Garth Brookes and Tricia Yearwood, who are carrying on the Carter’s legacy.
President Carter believes that if there is one person in this country without a roof over their head, Habitat's job is not done.
In 2023, alongside Garth and Trisha, Lowe's dedicated associates are once again donning their tool belts, eagerly collaborating with future homeowners to construct two new residences within The Meadows at Plato Price neighborhood development, located in Charlotte, North Carolina. This vibrant development promises to be a lasting asset to the Charlotte community, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those it serves.
Let's hear directly from our dedicated "Red Vests" on the ground as they share their thoughts on what it means to be part of such a transformative and impactful project.
We're just so proud to have been a partner, and this has been such a meaningful relationship. I'm just looking forward to these homeowners getting their keys and watching how Lowe's and Habitat work together to change their lives.
The give-back aspect and to see how much Lowe's is pouring into this and having two premiere houses on site, the collective effort across the company is amazing. We're hopefully making a difference in quite a few people's lives today.
There are a lot of different teams here from our QA, product development, store and everybody is out here, and we don't usually work together, so this is great just to build this house together and rally around this cause.
One of the reasons I enlisted was to protect and serve my country, to serve my community is just as important. The teamwork goes hand in hand and brings me back to my days in the military.
As Lowe's continuously strives to make a tangible impact on communities across the nation, the commitment to Habitat for Humanity's mission and President Jimmy Carter's lifelong goal of providing safe and affordable housing is stronger than ever.
