Despite having coworkers unaccounted for, Lowe's employees head out to help others

Immediately after Hurricane Harvey made landfall, Lowe’s and The First Response Team of America sprang into action. The first of four service projects took place in Aransas Pass, one of the hardest hit cities by the hurricane. Linda Parker, who evacuated the day of the storm, came home to a disaster. Every tree came down, including one on her truck.

“We weren’t expecting this. It was flooded, lines were down, trees everywhere, debris everywhere,” Parker said.

The family of three didn’t know where to go for help. That’s when they ran into The First Response Team of America.

“We weren’t able to do this by ourselves,” Parker explained. “But they said ‘we have people to help you.'”

Equipped with rakes, chainsaws and strength in numbers, the Lowe’s Heroes cleaned up all the debris in an hour. The video shows an emotional Parker, who thanked every volunteer for helping her family start the process of rebuilding.
