Less than two weeks after Lowe’s committed $2 million dollars to helping Florida communities recover from Hurricane Ian, associates began passing out free supplies to residents who were impacted the most.
Monday morning, Lowe’s stores in Cape Coral and Venice each hosted “bucket brigades”. Lines of cars filled the stores’ parking lots as community members picked up Lowe’s buckets full of critical supplies like water, sponges, bug repellant, trash bags, goggles, hand sanitizer and more. Each store handed out roughly 500 buckets of product.
Members of Lowe’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) were also on site to help distribute supplies. These associates are specially trained and voluntarily leave their home stores to travel to stores impacted by disaster. They help support those stores by temporarily filling the roles of local associates who have been affected by storms and need to spend time focusing on their families. More than 300 ERT associates from across the Southeast responded to help Florida stores following Hurricane Ian.
Lowe’s is also hiring associates to help these communities rebuild. In the coming days and weeks, Lowe’s will fill hundreds of roles across more than 15 stores in high impact areas. Interested candidates can apply in person, online or by texting lowesjobs to 37000.
