Lowe’s Heroes were hands on, hearts in during 2017

Lowe’s employees volunteered nearly 87,000 hours last year to support local communities.

In 1946, Lowe’s was established in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. It quickly became an integral part of the small, Carolina foothills community – a role the company’s founder and its employees took seriously. Now, after 70 years, 2,000 locations and over 290,000 employees later, Lowe’s continues to focus on serving the customers in the communities we serve. As a sign of commitment to that service, Lowe’s established a company-wide volunteer program called “Lowe’s Heroes” in the 1990s. Through the program, Lowe’s employees strive to make a difference in the communities where they live and work, while connecting with their customers in and outside of stores.

Employees across the company – from stores to supply chain locations to customer support centers – are invited to participate in Lowe’s Heroes. They adopt a project of their choice that meets critical needs of associates, communities and industry by supporting safe, affordable housing initiatives as well as skilled trade education.
