Lowe's is kicking off the start of football season by partnering with the NFL for the fourth consecutive year to help fans move the chains on DIY projects. This year, the Lowe's Home Team suited up to tackle community improvement projects in their "hometowns" across the nation.
The company is leaning into Home Team involvement in Lowe's Hometowns, a 5-year, $100 million program dedicated to improvement projects across the country, making homes – and hometowns – better for all. Each Home Team player's project will focus on giving back to their local communities in unique and impactful ways, from creating community gardens to building cost-efficient housing and improving school spaces for students preparing to enter the workforce.
Here's our elite Home Team roster;
Dak Prescott (Quarterback, Dallas Cowboys)
Dak Prescott quarterbacked a team of Lowe's Red Vest associates and Metrocrest Services volunteers to build an outdoor teaching garden in Carrollton, TX. The goal is to create a welcoming, accessible space for neighbors to learn how to support themselves in a cost-efficient manner.
Bryce Young (Quarterback, Carolina Panthers)
Rookie QB Bryce Young huddled up with Habitat for Humanity to help build a home for a family in the Mooresville, NC, area. Habitat for Humanity partners with people in your community and worldwide to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.
Travis Kelce (Tight End, Kansas City Chiefs)
Travis Kelce tackled Tomato Days; a three-day community event hosted by Kansas City Community Gardens. KCCG’s mission is to empower and inspire underserved households, community groups, and schools in the Kansas City Metropolitan area to grow their own vegetables and fruit. Kelce joined community volunteers and Lowe’s associates to install a new fence and refurbish the Beanstalk Children’s Garden.
Christian McCaffrey (Running Back, San Francisco 49ers)
Christian McCaffrey is lacing up in northern California to take on a to-be-determined project. Stay tuned for more details.
Kelvin Beachum (Offensive Tackle, Arizona Cardinals)
Kelvin Beachum took the field with East Valley Institute of Technology in Mesa, AZ, to support renovations on campus that will allow young adults with sufficient college preparatory training or guide them towards a fulfilling, long-lasting career. The institute provides students with hands-on training that will highlight their skills and propel them forward in the competitive workforce.
