For the second year, Lowe’s has partnered with LG Electronics USA and Rebuilding Together Greater Charlotte to provide five deserving homeowners in the Druid Hills neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina with energy-efficient appliances to celebrate and raise awareness of ENERGY STAR Day. ENERGY STAR Day is a celebration of the benefits of saving energy, saving money, and protecting the climate for all.
One family, Donald and his sister Vernell, received their appliances earlier this week and say this gift has changed their lives.
“These appliances are life-changing for me,” Donald said. “Before I had to unhook my oxygen to cook because the gas stove and dryer, now I don’t have to worry about any of that.”
LG Electronics USA and Lowe’s donated a full kitchen suite of ENERGY STAR appliances to all five homes including ENERGY STAR Most Efficient refrigerators with water filtration and stackable washer and dryer laundry units. The home upgrades are part of Building a Healthy Neighborhood, a national program that brings together volunteers, neighbors, community leaders and local organizations to revitalize neighborhoods with safe, affordable, accessible homes and thriving community spaces. “The refrigerator has a water filter inside of it, the dryer has a light inside and the stove has an air fry feature,” Donald added.
I never thought I needed those things but now I’m wondering how I used them before.
If every appliance purchased in the United States this year were ENERGY STAR certified, consumers would prevent greenhouse gas emissions equal to those from 215,000 cars—and save $360 million in annual energy costs. ENERGY STAR Most Efficient is a distinction recognizing products that deliver cutting edge energy efficiency along with the latest in technological innovation.
