A fresh layer of mulch can do more than tidy up a flower bed. It can make a community space feel cared for, welcoming and ready for the season ahead.
That is the idea behind the Lowe’s Mulch Mobile, a rolling surprise popping up in select markets with free mulch deliveries and gift cards for early-season projects. The truck has also made stops in Charlotte and Atlanta to support veteran organizations and local ballfields with complimentary mulch and monetary donations.

A Spring refresh meets community support
In the Lake Norman area, Lowe’s has been surprising nonprofits with free mulch, including Huntersville American Legion Post 321 in Huntersville, North Carolina.

“It’s amazing how grateful I am to Lowe’s for having helped our post as much as they have. The mulch is just the icing on the cake. Lowe’s has been our partner throughout this year, and I appreciate it,” a post leader said.
Lowe’s also made a donation to the much-loved baseball and softball fields at Cochran Park in Stockbridge, Georgia, helping refresh another space built for neighbors to gather.
For organizations that welcome people year-round, an outdoor cleanup is not just a seasonal chore. It is part of creating a place that feels inviting and ready for the next event, meeting or weekend visit.
Practical help for a simple project
Mulch is an easy upgrade, but planning can get tricky fast: uneven beds, slopes, windy corners and the classic question of how much to buy.
Mulch is easy to spread, harder to estimate. Figuring out how much to buy is not. That’s where Mylow, Lowe’s AI assistant, comes in. Simply enter “Mulch Me Now” into the prompt to calculate exactly how much mulch you’ll need for your project; then move seamlessly from calculation to ordering and delivery, all within Mylow.
A quick, no-fuss guide to mulch color

Color can be the fun part. The easiest approach starts with the home’s exterior and the overall feel of the landscape.
-
Black: Crisp contrast and a clean, modern look, especially with lighter exteriors and colorful blooms.
-
Brown: A classic, natural finish that blends easily with brick, stone and wooded yards.
-
Red: A bold accent that can frame simpler plantings, best used thoughtfully around warm-toned exteriors.
Whatever the color, the basics stay the same: mulch helps suppress weeds and helps soil hold moisture longer. For longer-term weed control, landscape fabric can help. For windy areas or slopes, mulch anchor products can keep beds looking neat.
Mulch Week at Lowe’s
Mulch Week runs April 9-15, a seasonal moment focused on helping customers tackle one of spring’s most popular refresh projects, from small home upgrades to community spaces that serve neighbors all year long.
