Meet Lyncoln Stone, the three-year-old dynamo who's never met a stranger in her life, especially not after a chance meeting with Lowe's Home Improvement.
Life was typical for the Stones until August 2023, when the gut-wrenching words, 'your child has cancer,' changed everything.
Diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblast Leukemia, a more curable but still challenging cancer for children, Lyncoln faces a tough road ahead. Immune-compromised during treatment, public places like playgrounds are a no-go for this spirited toddler.
Enter Christina O'Trimble, Lowe's District Manager in St. Louis, who sprang into action after meeting the Stones at a local restaurant. Alongside Store Manager Sam Brown and a dedicated team, they orchestrated a series of heartwarming transformations.
Identifying the need for joy in Lyncoln's backyard, they collaborated with Backyard Products to deliver a brand new swing set, replacing an older one. But they didn't stop there. The team replaced the family's backyard furniture and beautified the backyard, creating a sanctuary for the Stones to cherish while Lyncoln reveled in her new playground.
Jason Stone, Lyncoln's father, expressed the profound impact of this gesture, saying,
This has been incredible for us because every single day since we've had this play set, all she wants to do is go swing, she wants to go play, and now we get to do that.
For Sales Floor Department Supervisor Neal Higgins and the Lowe's team, the joy they bring to families like the Stones is immeasurable. Neal reflects,
If you as an associate have the opportunity and it does come around, I know there's no store in the company where you don't get an opportunity like this at least once a year; you should jump on it because it's going to give back to you more than it does to the community.
