As part of the NFL’s Salute to Service initiative in November, Lowe’s teamed up with the Carolina Panthers to recognize military members – past and present – and thank them for their service.
Picnic with the Panthers and Salute to Service game
“Dinner on the grounds” took on a whole new meaning Nov. 9 when Lowe’s and the Panthers hosted twenty-one service members and their families at Bank of America Stadium. Treated to a picnic right on the Panthers’ home field, the families also met NFL players and Lowe’s leaders and enjoyed a personal concert by artist Coffey Anderson.
With the help of @Lowes, we hosted 21 military members and their families for a special "Picnic with a Veteran" at the stadium.#SaluteToService | #VeteransDay

But the special experiences inside the stadium didn’t stop there. The service members were also recognized during the Nov. 21 game against the Washington Football Team.
Bringing smiles to veterans’ faces at Richard’s Coffee Shop
Don’t let the name fool you – Richard’s Coffee Shop is so much more than just a place for a cup of Joe. Founded in 1995 by Richard Warren, it’s known in Mooresville, N.C., -- and beyond -- as a living military museum, full of artifacts and memorabilia. The shop is dedicated to honoring America’s veterans, active duty and emergency services personnel.
It’s become a happening hub for veterans to gather, a place where they can swap stories, socialize and enjoy each other’s company. Thursdays in particular are good days to visit – any vet who walks in the door receives a free coffee.
So, what could make free coffee even better? Power tools of course. Representatives from Lowe’s and the Panthers stopped by the shop on Nov. 19 with special gifts. Veterans received power tools, signed jerseys and footballs, and had the chance to meet the Panthers’ mascot, Sir Purr, and even a member of the Top Cats. And the best part? Lowe’s, the Panthers and Purple Heart Homes pledged more than $40,000 to make critical repairs to the coffee shop, including an HVAC update, extending the back porch and updating its wheelchair ramp.
Lowe’s has a longstanding appreciation for the military community whether it be a customer, supplier or one of its nearly 20,000 military associates. Learn more about Lowe’s military commitment at www.lowes.com/honor.
