Service projects featured the USO, Veterans Bridge Home and The Mission Continues
As the NFL’s Salute to Service initiative kicked off this month, Lowe’s was grateful to support four projects aimed at making a lasting impact on the military and local communities. Each project was in partnership with a military nonprofit and united more than 100 volunteers across Charlotte, Dallas, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.
“Through Salute to Service, the NFL does outstanding work for veterans, active servicemembers and their families,” said Frank Guidry, a Lowe’s Store Manager in D.C. and Marine Corps veteran. “We’re proud to be an official sponsor while finding practical ways to support the military community, such as our DIY workshop series with the Washington Redskins and the USO.”

In Washington, D.C., Lowe’s worked with the Washington Redskins and the USO to offer a Do-It-Yourself Drywall Patching Course at FedExField. The course, led by Lowe’s associates, is the first of four DIY workshops and drew 50 service members and military spouses.
In Charlotte, North Carolina, a groundbreaking with Veterans Bridge Home was held at Veterans Memorial Park for a new military-inspired fitness court. The court, funded by Lowe’s and the Carolina Panthers, is scheduled to be completed in 2020 and will include stations, obstacles and fitness equipment based off training programs from all five branches of the military.
At Dallas Love Field Airport, 25 Lowe’s Heroes worked alongside the USO and Dallas Cowboys cornerback Byron Jones to pack 2,500 care packages for military members traveling through the airport this holiday season. The effort supported the USO Holidays Campaign and its mission to keep service members connected to family, home and country.
In San Francisco, Lowe’s teamed up with the NFL and The Mission Continues to refurbish areas of Alemany Farm, the city’s largest urban farm. Volunteers, including Lowe’s Heroes, weeded, mulched, paved paths, removed trees and planted native plants.
