Lowe’s CEO, Michael Jordan celebrate with ribbon cutting ahead of Jr. NBA Clinic
With Uptown Charlotte as a backdrop, the Hornets, Lowe’s, city leaders and students celebrated the newest basketball court refurbishment at Greenville Park. This is the fourth park to be refurbished as part of the Hornets Legacy Project, which previously resulted in upgraded basketball courts at Charlotte’s Latta Park, Tuckaseegee Park and Camp Greene Park.
In addition to the court refurbishment, Lowe’s volunteers from Charlotte-area stores installed park benches and trash cans and completed landscaping to beautify the park.
“At the end of the day, if we can help these kids to be healthier, more engaged and fuel leadership qualities from athletics, then we’ve had a good day,” said Lowe’s President and CEO Marvin Ellison.
Students from a nearby elementary school participated in a Jr. NBA Clinic with Hornets players immediately following the dedication ceremony, which included remarks from team owner Michael Jordan.
This is part of Lowe’s ongoing commitment to support community projects in its hometown. Earlier this year, the company also announced Charlotte will be home for Lowe’s new global technology center, which will bring 1,600 new jobs.
