Holoroom How To is home improvement’s first-ever virtual reality do-it-yourself (DIY) skills-training clinic.

Holoroom How To is home improvement’s first-ever virtual reality do-it-yourself (DIY) skills-training clinic where customers can learn basic DIY skills in an interactive environment. When customers put on the virtual reality headset and hold the controllers in the store experience, they are immersed in a DIY project —such as tiling a shower —and given step-by-step instructions to complete the task.

Research conducted by Lowe’s shows that not all customers have the confidence or skills needed to embark on a DIY project. Initial testing of the Holoroom How To technology has not only proven to increase recall, but also demonstrates that training through virtual reality boosts customer confidence and enhances their motivation to take on DIY projects.

Holoroom How To is available at Lowe’s in Framingham, Massachusetts, and is expected to launch in two Canadian stores (Burlington and Quebec) later this month.

Check out the video above to see how it works.
