When Kyle Cooper first joined Lowe's as a cashier in Poinciana, Florida, he never imagined it would be the start of a career journey that would take him across states—and across departments.

"I've only worked at three places in my life: McDonald's, Macy's, and Lowe's," Kyle shared with a laugh. "But Lowe's gave me something the others didn't: a chance to build a career, not just a job."

Kyle quickly moved from cashier to the paint desk, and later to Lowe's cross-dock terminal, where he gained valuable experience in supply chain operations. Over time, he realized he wanted more opportunities for growth—and education was the next step.

That's when he turned to the Lowe's Guild Program. "I knew I wanted to go back to school but I didnt want to break the bank to do that," Kyle said. "the Guild program, made it so easy to get back into school, they me figure out my major and asked how I wanted to do school that would fit with my work schedule as all of this has been done while I continue to work full time."

Armed with new skills and confidence, Kyle applied to the Lowe's Summer Internship Program. It was a decision that not only gave him hands-on experience in Supply Chain but also introduced him to leaders across the company.

"I knew I wanted to make myself as marketable as possible. The internship gave me that opportunity," Kyle said. "It wasn't just about learning a role—it was about meeting people, networking, and understanding how the business runs at every level."

Kyle's internship experience opened new doors. He was entrusted with meaningful projects, introduced Lowe's CEO Marvin Ellison at an intern event, and built connections that will carry him through his next chapter as Operations Supervisor at Lowe's Regional Distribution Center in Statesville, NC.

When asked what advice he has for the next class of interns, Kyle doesn't hesitate:

"Get out of your comfort zone. Talk to people—even leaders you think are too busy—because at Lowe's, they'll make time for you. Every conversation is valuable."

Kyle's story is proof of what's possible when ambition meets opportunity. From cashier to student, from intern to full-time associate, he's used every resource Lowe's offers to build a career he's proud of.
