Themed Christmas trees – from paint to appliances – fill Colorado Lowe’s store

A Colorado Springs Lowe’s store has lots of holiday spirit. Their fifteen themed Christmas trees prove it.

Project Specialist Interiors Amy Weaver was inspired by an event she attended in Atlanta. Specially decorated Christmas trees are auctioned off to raise money for local charities. Weaver thought it could be fun for Lowe’s to have its own festival of trees.

She got to work with colleagues to design trees in each section of the store. The Christmas tree in the appliance section is decorated with cleaning products. Mini cans and brushes line the tree in paint. Bathroom gadgets hang on the tree in the bathroom section. There are a dozen more designed creatively like them.

The store held an open house for the community on Saturday. One employee dressed as Santa, walking around greeting customers and employees. He gave children aprons and toy hammers. They enjoyed seeing Santa while decorating their own ornaments, wood slices cut from the bottom of Christmas trees.

“The trees had several purposes, to spread holiday cheer to employees and customers, as well as decorate the store for the season and open house event,” Weaver said. One employee told Weaver she didn’t like Christmas. By the fifth tree, she was asking when her department would get a Christmas tree.

“If the time and effort I put in only worked on one person, it was worth it,” Weaver said. “I give what I can, and it doesn’t have to be money. Happiness, smiles, and joy are always worth trying to spread.”
