Lowe's associates speak about data privacy, engineering techniques, fruad and more
The Information Security Group (ISG) hosted the annual Cyber Security Summit in October 2019 in support of National Cyber Security Awareness month (NCSAM). The keynote speaker was Jim Granozio from the F.B.I who discussed cyber-crime trends and best practice mitigation techniques. A number of Lowe’s associates also presented on various topics such as data privacy, hacking 101, social engineering techniques, fraud and loss prevention and more.
NCSAM is a collaborative effort between government and industry to raise awareness about the importance of cyber security awareness. The 2019 theme for National Cyber Security Awareness Month was “Own It. Secure It. Protect It.” and the theme of the summit sessions was to focus on personal accountability, proactive behavior, security best practices and common cyber threats.
Security awareness is knowledge combined with attitudes and behaviors that serve to protect our information assets. To be cyber aware, one understands what the threats are and take the right steps to prevent them. ISG has a Cyber Security Awareness (CSA) Program that:
- Aligns with the mission of ISG to enable business operations, through risk-based and proactive security measures.
- Integrates home improvement them into program slogan – “Nail It”
- Creates a dynamic and user-friendly way for associates to learn about cyber security awareness topics using a fun, lighthearted approach to help increase awareness, engagement and knowledge
