Lowe’s sends storm preparedness supplies to help Florida communities get ready
As the southeast U.S. prepares for Hurricane Irma to potentially make landfall, Lowe’s is working around the clock to help communities prepare for the storm. Here are a few things already under way:
- Lowe’s Emergency Command Center in Wilkesboro, North Carolina works 24/7 to get critical supplies to stores in impacted areas. The command center has been in full-activation since before the first major hurricane, Harvey, made landfall in Texas.
- Lowe’s has already shipped more than 1,600 truckloads of critically needed supplies to Florida stores. Emergency relief supplies also are maintained at Lowe’s stores in hurricane-prone areas, like Florida, to help with preparation and recovery.
- Supply chain teams are quickly moving pre-storm products like nails and plywood and immediate post-storm necessities like fans and dehumidifiers to Florida.
- Lowe’s is working with the Florida Department of Transportation, FEMA and Homeland Security to maintain inventory levels and replenish storm inventory in areas of need.
- Lowe’s coastal holding facility in Palmetto, Georgia is a disaster relief storage facility, with approximately 250,000 square feet of space reserved just for emergency supplies. It maintains a supply of generators, chain saws, gas cans, box fans, five-gallon buckets and other emergency products need for tornadoes, hurricanes and floods, and employees there have been hard at work getting those supplies to potentially-impacted areas.
Lowe’s Emergency Command Center will continue to monitor Hurricane Irma, and relief efforts are still under way in Texas.
