Heavy snow, ice, and plunging temperatures are on track to grip large swaths of the country. Inside Lowe’s Mooresville store support center, a cross-functional core team is already in action. The Lowe’s Command Center, an always-on emergency response hub, has been closely monitoring weather data, mobilizing product shipments and activating support teams since early alerts began.

Taylor Evans, director of Command Center operations, emphasized the importance of preparation: “It’s not just about reacting to storms, it’s about anticipating them. We start tracking systems days in advance and work around the clock to move product, adjust routes and support stores before the first flake even falls. That speed and foresight are what help us make a real difference for our customers.”

The Command Center serves as mission control for disaster logistics, leveraging real-time data to move critical items such as generators, ice melt, kerosene heaters, and snow blowers into impacted regions. One unique key feature of that rapid deployment is Lowe’s partnership with RXO, its dedicated shipping vendor that coordinates and executes fast, targeted deliveries before and during weather events.

RXO team members are embedded within the Command Center, enabling direct coordination with Lowe’s crisis logistics. Their on-site presence enables swift adjustments to freight plans and routing, as well as real-time decision-making.

"RXO is proud to support Lowe’s on-site at the command center. Together, the RXO and Lowe’s teams work shoulder-to-shoulder to support Emergency Management Events. Being on-site allows us to move quickly, stay closely aligned, and help ensure customers receive the critical products they need during times of crisis. It’s meaningful work, and we’re honored to support Lowe’s when it matters most." said RXO's director of customer solutions, Dana Scott.

While Lowe’s works to pre-stage shipments days ahead of landfall, giving stores a head start in preparing shelves and supporting customer needs, the RXO team is on hand for logistics. When road conditions deteriorate, the RXO-Lowe’s team quickly works to re-route and keep supply lines open.

Evans summed up the mission: “Our goal is to keep stores operational and our communities equipped, even in the harshest conditions.”

Thanks to the Command Center team's speed and coordination, customers can count on their local Lowe's as winter weather intensifies.
