The USO at Fort Liberty sees nearly 7,000 service members and their families each month. This project will improve the appearance of the space with a refreshed and welcoming reception area, new carpet and flooring, kitchen updates and a brand-new buffet area to allow families to enjoy the space together.

Truth Foundational Ministries CDC

The volunteers of Truth Foundational Ministries work to support the community of Edgecombe County that has limited access to affordable and nutritious food. By upgrading a 10-ft. building with an ADA compliant bathroom, kitchenette, office space and closet with storage, the organization can provide better access to healthy, fresh food for this community in need.

Teamer Youth and Family Thrive Hub

The Teamer Youth and Family Thrive hub acts as a hub for food distributions during the holidays in addition to providing health and human service priorities to the community. This project will renovate the interior and exterior of the education building, including energy-efficient doors and windows, painting, a new kitchen, and landscaping.

Southeast Guilford High School

Southeast Guilford High School will enhance their school programming with a new space. A new storage shed, raised beds, gardens as well as a space for animals will support the agriculture program at high school, in addition to upgrades to the school’s weight room. All work will be completed by the school’s students to create skills-based opportunities.

Mimi's Garden at FeedNC

FeedNC is fighting food insecurity through programs aimed to help those in need access healthy food, education, and connections. With the Lowe’s Hometowns grant, FeedNC and Lowe’s will build 9 raised garden beds, plant 125 pollinators, build 2 garden arches, install a rose trellis, assemble 3 garden carts, install 2 scarecrows, assemble 2 veggie washing stations, install a bird bath and stain/seal the picnic area on a plot of land known as Mimi’s garden.

With the Lowe’s Hometowns grant, the Lumbee Tribe Cultural Center will upgrade their outdoor recreation areas to make them safer and more ADA accessible. Work will involve removing wood ground cover and adding rubberized surfacing to two existing play spaces, installing border edging and a new play structure will be purchased and installed.

East Lincoln High School

East Lincoln High School will add two additional tennis courts and repair and fencing on existing courts which will be the only public tennis courts for use in Lincoln County. Leveling off an area off for spectators and community members will allow the community to use this space whenever they please.

The Community Free Clinic

The Community Free Clinic provides comprehensive healthcare and pharmacy services to low-income uninsured adults of Cabarrus County. With their Lowe's Hometowns Grant, the organization will install new flooring, ceiling tiles, and a new pharmacy door. Fresh paint and other improvements will allow them to continue to provide these necessary health services for the town’s residents.

Charlotte Urban Design Center

The City of Charlotte will plant fruit-bearing trees at the Spring Street Plaza to improve fresh food access, increase tree canopy, and improve air and water quality for the community. Shrubs and perennials will be planted to attract pollinators, and the plaza will provide a high-quality public space for the community to gather.

Boys and Girls Club of the Piedmont

With the Lowe’s Hometowns grant, the Boys and Girls Club of the Piedmont will create a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for physical, educational, and emotional child development. A new playground and drain will address the current erosion of their basketball courts and beautify this space so the boys and girls of the Piedmont could enjoy playing together again.
