The Greensboro Science Center hopes renovations will improve guest experiences and on-site animal welfare. The project includes replacing and staining rotting boards in most of its viewports, replacing and staining the facade of its hornbill exhibit, improving areas for tortoise and crocodile displays and building a small, open-air shade canopy.

The organization currently occupies a former Holiday Inn Complex built in the 1960s.

Roof Above would like to add an outdoor gathering space at its brand new permanent supportive housing community, which will provide housing for 88 people who have experienced chronic homelessness. This grant would allow Roof Above to transform the space's old pool area, which had previously been filled in, into an outdoor gathering space for both informal and formal community-building activities.

Southside Community Farm's mission is to grow Black food sovereignty in Asheville, North Carolina's Southside neighborhood, which hosts most of Asheville's public housing. The neighborhood has no grocery store, which limits access to reliable, convenient, and healthy food. This project would create a resource for edible plants and fruit trees.

The City of North Wilkesboro would like to expand the community’s access to outdoor play and recreation through the installation of a new inclusive playground designed for ages two to 12, with additional play elements in the area for children under two to enjoy. This playground would be ADA-compliant with rubberized mulch and rubberized pour-in-place surfaces to create the site’s pad. The entrance to the playground also will have a dedicated resting place for caretakers, zones for parking strollers, and dedicated benches.

A community organization seeks to revitalize a small rural community through a series of beautification and improvement initiatives. Focused on the downtown area, projects include turning a neglected park into an exercise yard for an animal hospital’s patients, repairing and prepping a wall that faces the town hall for a mural painting, refreshing painted trash cans and painting playground equipment in the children’s park. Each improvement will help make the downtown area a bit more vibrant.

A town with no park is working to complete a Town Square park project that will serve as a place for children and adults alike to come together to play, relax and enjoy one another’s company. Centrally located in the town, the ADA-accessible park will be a gathering place for residents and a spot for a variety of community activities.
