For over 140 years, Philly House has been a physical and spiritual sanctuary, empowering those in need of food, shelter and hope in Philadelphia. The Lowe's Hometowns grant will significantly upgrade the Philly House dining room by providing a new tile floor and a fresh coat of paint. Serving over 10,000 meals a month, upgrading this critical spacethis is an investment in our guests' wellbeing, providing a safe place full of dignity and respect.

Family and Community Service of Delaware County (FCSDC) has proudly served vulnerable residents of the county for over 100 years with programs that address homelessness, medical care access, and mental health. With the Lowe's Hometown Grant, FCSDC will make renovations to our Ralph Moses House transitional housing facility in Chester, Pennsylvania.

Coplay Fire Department

The Coplay Fire Department is an all volunteer fire department served by men and women, as well as members from the LGBTQ+ community. With the Lowe’s Hometown grant, the fire department will build a bunk room for overnight sleeping accommodations, build a kitchen area to include installation of cabinets, counters, oven, sink, refrigerator and microwave. The grant will also be used to pave asphalt in our parking lot. 

Laurys Station Volunteer Fire Company No. 1

Laury's Station Fire Company No. 1 will have their space upgraded with new bathrooms, a new entry way and kitchen in the station's social hall. As a second home to many members, the renovation through Lowe's Hometowns will create an even more welcoming space for volunteers who choose to selflessly serve their community.

The Duryea VFW has served the Duryea, Greater Pittston and lower Lackawanna County areas for the last 100 years. The organization collaborates across the community to provide community gathering space, including the Northeast PA Food Dignity Project farmers’ market. The Lowes’ Hometowns project will help construct a pavilion to expand its usable space to benefit veterans, their families and the greater community.

Chester Education Foundation’s Community Resource Hub will open to residents of Delaware County and serve as a one-stop for community members to access subsidized and emergency housing, food banks, legal, educational, employment, counseling and more. The Lowe's Hometowns project will help complete the new hub space including drywall, paint, lighting, carpet, cabinets and appliances.

Undercliff Volunteer Fire Company

The Undercliff Volunteer Fire Company's facility serves as a central part of the community for fundraisers, meetings, elections and more. Through Lowe's Hometowns, the station will be renovated, including ceiling work, refreshed walls, electric work, doors, heating units, stairs and renovations of first and second floor bathrooms. The updates will strengthen the volunteers' and community's sense of pride.

Variety, the Children's Charity of the Delaware Valley

Variety the Children’s Charity has a 77-acre campus to host children’s programs and services. This project will renovate the dining hall, which is used by after-school programs, summer camps and a high school vocation program where participants can prepare their grown produce and baked goods to be sold at pop-up shops and Variety’s weekly farm stand.

The Sojourner Truth Ministries housing is a partially refinished duplex that needs to become livable space. By installing drywall, a new kitchen, laundry, bathroom, landscaping and a privacy fence, the home will allow people to work on life skills, stability, health and sobriety all while having a comfortable place to call home.

Dauntless Hook & Ladder Ambulance has seen a drastic decline in the number of volunteers willing to serve with their organization. The Lowe’s Hometown grant will allow for an overhaul of their facility, including new windows throughout the facility, new day and night rooms for volunteer crews and upgrades to their training room, so they can teach necessary skills to their newly recruited volunteers.
