The Town of Wilkesboro Fire Department provides fire, medical, rescue, and educational services to the community of Wilkesboro. Lowe’s Community Impact Grant will provide a cleaner, and more professional area for its staff to operate, reduce costs, and allow funding to be put towards services provided by our staff.

Third Creek Elementary School

Third Creek Elementary School is a Title I public school serving 550 children in grades K-5. With the Lowe’s Community Impact Grant, the school will replace its old playground equipment, install a new ADA compliant playground to serve children with physical disabilities, and refurbish the school’s amphitheater/outdoor classroom. These renovations will assist teachers in meeting the physical, social, and emotional needs of their student while rejuvenating community involvement and volunteerism for the school.

The Shepherd's House Homeless Shelter & Helping Hands Food Pantry

The Greater Mt. Airy Ministry of Hospitality and its sister agencies, the Shepherd’s House and Helping Hands provide housing, food, and resources to those in need. Lowe’s Community Impact Grant will help renovate two bathrooms and the oil furnaces and air conditioning units. Completion of this project will allow the expansion of outreach to previously unserved homeless and food insecure populations, increasing our agencies service delivery to an estimated 25% more individuals.

The Kindness Closet is a nonprofit hygiene bank dedicated to ensuring all individuals have access to essential hygiene products so they can live with dignity, health, and confidence. With the Lowe’s Community Impact Grant, the organization will expand and renovate its warehouse—more than doubling its size. These improvements will increase distribution capacity, engage more volunteers, and allow The Kindness Closet to serve more families while strengthening access to essential hygiene products across the community.

SCT is expanding a trusted disaster recovery hub into a vibrant community center and public garden, providing food and resource access, classrooms, and office space for providers. The Lowe’s Community Impact Grant will create a permanent, accessible space that strengthens long-term recovery by enabling neighbors to build community connections.

Mount Mourne Fire Department provides fire, rescue, and EMS services to an 18-square-mile response district in southern Iredell County. With Lowe's Community Impact Grant, the department will be able to add hard surfaces and landscaping around its training building. These additions will complete the training grounds and provide a facility for its firefighters to train and better their skills for many years to come.

The Hidden Valley Community Garden and Beautification Committees are dedicated to cultivating a healthy, connected neighborhood and shared green spaces for the community to enjoy. With support from the Lowe’s Community Impact Grant, the committees will renovate and expand its garden beds, beautify and install community areas for planting and congregating, while creating accessibility for seniors and disabled residents. These enhancements will increase community pride, food access, promote wellness and community engagement.
