The Ronald McDonald House seeks to repair, improve and renovate the exterior of the Sid Katz House, which supports families facing the struggle of a child battling a terminal illness or life-threatening injury. The House ensures families can be close to their ill child without having to choose between being separated or incurring hotel and other expenses they can’t afford. This project would renovate and repair three outdoor spaces and an exterior entrance to the home.

The Salvation Army operates a program called Passage that provides supervised independent living and case management to young people aged 18-24 years who have aged out of the state foster care system. The Passage Program serves as a bridge between the exit of the foster care system and that journey to self-sufficiency. The goal of this project is to renovate four smaller existing structures to create a single on-site haven to house and manage the Passage Program.

Each portion of the project will require replacing sinks/vanities, toilets and shower units. The laundry rooms require repaired and updated electrical and lighting, and the project will include installing plumbing for two washers and dryers, installing four additional washers/dryers, new tiles and baseboards and undertaking significant interior painting.

Blackshear Elementary would like to build a living mural garden with child-friendly pathways, a refreshed playground area, modular seating for outdoor learning, and shades that include charging and wi-fi stations to extend learning beyond the classroom walls. Family and community members will have access to an organic edible garden to cultivate fresh vegetables and native plant species to beautify their school community through environmentally supportive gardening and growing.
