The Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas want to update and upgrade their current outdoor space into a safe place for girls to participate in Girl Scout programming, be together and have fun. Investments would include new fencing and outdoor equipment (e.g., grills, picnic tables), updating the stage, painting the exterior and creating a garden that will provide girls with hands-on experience.
The Ronald McDonald House seeks to repair, improve and renovate the exterior of the Sid Katz House, which supports families facing the struggle of a child battling a terminal illness or life-threatening injury. The House ensures families can be close to their ill child without having to choose between being separated or incurring hotel and other expenses they can’t afford. This project would renovate and repair three outdoor spaces and an exterior entrance to the home.
The Salvation Army operates a program called Passage that provides supervised independent living and case management to young people aged 18-24 years who have aged out of the state foster care system. The Passage Program serves as a bridge between the exit of the foster care system and that journey to self-sufficiency. The goal of this project is to renovate four smaller existing structures to create a single on-site haven to house and manage the Passage Program.
The Salvation Army of El Paso wants to renovate its shelter facilities including the lobby, five restrooms, three laundry spaces, and two hallways. Each portion of the project will require replacing sinks/vanities, toilets and shower units. The laundry rooms require repaired and updated electrical and lighting, and the project will include installing plumbing for two washers and dryers, installing four additional washers/dryers, new tiles and baseboards and undertaking significant interior painting.
Blackshear Elementary would like to build a living mural garden with child-friendly pathways, a refreshed playground area, modular seating for outdoor learning, and shades that include charging and wi-fi stations to extend learning beyond the classroom walls. Family and community members will have access to an organic edible garden to cultivate fresh vegetables and native plant species to beautify their school community through environmentally supportive gardening and growing.
A Salvation Army chapter that provides shelter and resources that men need while they search for employment and permanent housing seeks to refurbish and repair its men’s dormitories, specifically the shower area where only one shower is functioning. The repairs will ensure clients have access to a clean, safe, and dignified space as they work to get back on their feet.
A nonprofit organization started by two teenage brothers with a goal to plant trees in an effort to positively impact the environment and improve the quality of life for area residents, wishes to replace trees that were lost and damaged as a result of the recent Texas winter storms. By planting and maintaining trees in the storm ravaged areas, they hope to reduce erosion and pollution in waterways and mitigate the effects of flooding.

It's part of a strategic plan to rejuvenate the downtown district making it a destination for residents and visitors alike.
A volunteer fire department seeks to make improvements to its fire hall which serves double duty housing firefighting equipment and functioning as a community hall. Upgrades focus on ensuring the building can serve as an emergency shelter if and when needed and allow the space to continue to be a gathering place for community and club events.
An organization that provides accessible, high quality mental health services to children and their families seeks to repair damages to its building sustained during a winter storm as well as add additional therapy space to provide care for more clients and reconfigure bathrooms to accommodate gender non-conforming clients. The improvements will provide a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space from which they can continue to provide a continuum of care.
